Black Beauty Boys, Scorpio 11-19 and Tribu Alibangbang dominate Ati-Atihan street dancing contest

Kaliboatiatihan-18Black Beauty Boys, for the third straight year, defended its Tribal Big category title to win the coveted P150,000 grand prize in the recently-concluded Ati-Atihan street dancing contest, according to festival organizer Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi). 

 The tribe from Barangay Linabuan Norte defeated Kabog and seven other Ati tribes for the top prize. Kabog received the first runner-up prize of P80,000. The tribe from Barangay Estancia was adjudged second in 2011 and 2012. 

Tribu Bukid Tigayon placed third in the Tribal big category for P50,000. The consolation winners were Pangawasan Tribe of Makato, Aklan; Tribu Parola of Daja Norte, Banga, Aklan and Maharlika of Dumga, Makato, Aklan. Each of them received P10,000 as consolation prize.

 Other tribes competing in the Tribal big category were Tribu Tiis-Tiis of New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan and two other out-of-town entries - Lord Eagles of Dumga, Makato, Aklan and D' Kamanggahan Tribe of Poblacion, Makato, Aklan.

 For the Modern group category, perennial champion Scorpio 11-19 of Poblacion, Kalibo, Aklan bagged the P50,000 grand prize for the third consecutive year of the Kasafi-run street dancing competition, besting five other entries for the title.

 Aeang-Aeang Group  of Laguinbanua, Numancia, Aklan placed second and got P25,000 followed by Pilgrimage of Pook, Kalibo, Aklan, bringing home P15,000 cash.

 Emperor and D'Emagine, both from Kalibo, Aklan, received P5,000 each as consolation prize.

For the Tribal small category, Tribu Alibangbang bested seven other contesting tribes for the P60,000 grand prize. This year's champion from Linabuan Norte, Kalibo, Aklan was adjudged second runner-up in 2012.

Lezo Tribe from Ibao, Lezo, Aklan placed second for P40,000 and Tribu Ninolitos of Tigayon, Kalibo, Aklan went home P30,000 for third place. The three consolation winners were Morongga Tribe and Tribu Responde, from New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan and Tribu Ea-mang of Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan.Each of them received P8,000 as consolation prize.

Tribu Tipon-Tipon of Ibao, Lezo, Aklan and Tribu Mangisngisda of Bakhaw Sur, Kalibo, Aklan also joined the competition for the Tribal small category. 

Meanwhile, tribes from the town of Malinao dominated the Balik-Ati category, of which all three major winners were from Barangay Lilo-an.

Lilo-anong Ati ag si Datu Marikudo bested seven other tribes for the grand prize of P50,000. The Balik-Ati tribe is now the three-time champion of Kasafi-organized street dancing contest. 
Tribu Ilayanhon settled for first runner-up to receive P25,000 and Tribu Isalacan placed third for P15,000.

The consolation winners were Malipayong Ati of San Roque, Malinao, Aklan and Apo ni Inday of Calangcang, Makato, Aklan for P5,000. Other tribes in Balik-Ati category were Kinantuing of San Roque, Malinao, Aklan; Anono-o Group of Briones, Kalibo, Aklan and Maninikop Group from Caano, Kalibo, Aklan. 

The top five winners for the Individual category, all them received P3,000 each, were Jarry Bais for his entry Placida Plastikada of New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan; Rio Traje (Vivacious Selena) of Baybay, Tangalan, Aklan; Joecel Relado (Mulawin) of Linabuan Norte, Kalibo, Aklan; Noel Trance (Authentica Galactica) of Tagas, Tangalan, Aklan and Jomar Melgar (Fantastica) of Polo, New Washington, Aklan.
There were 18 entries in the individual category.

All entries were judged by 10 judges chosen by Kasafi for the 2013 street dancing contest of the Sto. Nino festival.
